CRS PILOT DIGESTER SYSTEMS

The CRS multipurpose pulping systems are designed to simulate all known pulping processes, including organo-solv pulping, with true concentration and temperature profiles as well as realistic flow profiles. The geometries of reactors and peripherals are chosen to give good and reproducible mill flow conditions in the chip bed. The recycle systems are modular with several operation modes. Valve operation reconfigures the flow-sheet into other process modes.

Application

The CRS Pilot Digester is designed to perform optimization experiments and simulations under mill scale conditions. The purpose is to minimize risk at investments, to preserve heavy capital investments, to restore base data at start-up, to restore base data at optimization, to supply project support and to perform operator training.

Features

  • Operation modes include up- and down-flow recycle, standard and displacement cooks and steaming
  • The digesters are charged and discharged with a chip basket. The reactor system has one lifting/guiding device for the digester lid and one for the basket.
  • Liquid injection and displacement during operation is performed with regular pumps or with a special EMCC-pump
  • Heat exchangers (cooler and heater) of high capacity are located on the recycle loop and each digester vessel has a jacket heater. Accumulator tanks have independent temperature control
  • Temperatures in several locations are sampled for H-factor calculation and display
  • The system has a PC operator interface with a flow diagram for good over-view and control
  • All transmitters including pressure, flow and optional sensors are followed for both control and logging purposes
  • Valve operation from PC to make multiple switching in blocks
  • Pressure control and displacement control
  • Flow control and injection control
  • Bed compression with piston and additional sensors
  • Rapid step changes in temperature, realistic liquid to chip ratio and the wide flow span allows very precise simulation of both displacement and circulation conditions
  • Heat accumulator and reactor with separate heating allow independent control of flow and temperature
  • Pump arrangement for both circulation and displacement with different flow configurations. The liquor circulation is performed with a frequency controlled pump
  • Valve action in conjunction with hot and cool water reservoirs gives very rapid temperature changes
  • Optional sensors and instruments such as pH, conductivity, NIR etc can be introduced into the system
  • Turn-key with start-up and training at User's site
